Keystone Places 2 Large Concrete Mat Foundations in 6 week timeframe

Keystone has commenced construction on 2 separate high-rise concrete towers in Houston; the 1600 West Loop Tower and the Kirby Collection Residential Tower.  Both projects involved large continuously placed mat foundations requiring extensive coordination and teamwork.

The 1600 West Loop project is a 36 story office and hotel mixed use tower and the Kirby Collection project is a 26 story residential tower.  Keystone will be constructing the concrete frame for each project throughout the coming year.

At the 1600 West Loop Project in late October, the Keystone Team successfully placed the project’s 6,040 cubic yard concrete mat foundation in 1 continuous placement over approximately 9 hours.  Exactly 6 weeks later, the Keystone team successfully placed the 5,820 cubic yard concrete mat foundation in 1 continuous placement over 8 hours for the Kirby Collection Project.  For each placement the team utilized 6 concrete pumps, 150 ready mix trucks providing 750 to 850 cubic yards of concrete per hour, and over 300 people working together coordinating the work.  All this work was accomplished with no injuries during the concrete placements.
